"Touring" is the most-typed word in our search box, and the questions behind it are all the same question: will a part off a 2010 Ultra fit my 2006? Will a Street Glide fairing go on a Road King? Are 2007 and 2009 the same bike?
We pull more Touring bikes than anything else. As of September 13, 2026 there are over 4,000 Touring-family parts on the shelf in Euclid, and 87 of the 215 motorcycles being dismantled right now are 2007 to 2013 Touring models. This is the guide we use in the yard, written down. It is organized around the years Harley changed something that stops a part from swapping.
One rule before the details: the part number wins. Everything below tells you where to look. The number on the part, and the fitment on the listing, tell you whether it fits. If they disagree with this page, call us.
The Touring generations, as we sort them
Our inventory system tags each part with the production run of the bike it came off. The groups that show up most on the Touring shelf tell you where the real breaks are:
| Range on our listings | Parts on the shelf | What it usually means |
|---|---|---|
| 1982 to 1998 | 487 | Evolution-era Touring |
| 1999 to 2006 | 1,275 | Twin Cam 88, 5-speed, cable throttle |
| 2007 to 2012 / 2007 to 2013 | 996 | Twin Cam 96 and 103, 6-speed; bodywork that spans the 2009 frame change |
| 2008 to 2016 | 701 | Electronic throttle era, up to the Milwaukee-Eight |
| 2007 to 2016 | 350 | Parts that did not change through the whole Twin Cam 96/103 run |
| 2017 onward | 130 | Milwaukee-Eight bikes |
Notice that "2007 to 2012" and "2008 to 2016" overlap. That is not a mistake. Different parts changed in different years, so a switch housing can be a 2007-to-2016 part while the frame under it is a 2009-to-2013 part. Read the range on the specific listing, not the range on the bike.
The years that matter
1999: Twin Cam 88 replaces the Evolution
New engine, and with it new engine mounts, exhaust, air cleaner, oil lines and a lot of the electrical. Bodywork, frames, wheels and luggage carried over more than people expect, which is why our 1982-to-1998 and 1999-to-2006 shelves share some part numbers. If you are working on a 1998 or earlier bike, we have 487 Touring parts from that era, including 3 batwing fairings.
2007: Twin Cam 96, 6-speed, fuel injection everywhere
Engine, transmission and primary all changed. Any engine or gearbox listing for a 2006-or-earlier bike is a different part from a 2007-or-later one. Fairings, tanks, fenders, bags and most controls did not change in 2007, which is why the 1999-to-2006 shelf is still the right place to look for a lot of 2007 bodywork.
2008: electronic throttle, 6-gallon tank, bigger axles, ABS option
This is the one that catches people. 2008 Touring bikes lost the throttle cables and went to electronic throttle control, which means the throttle body, ECM, hand controls and harness from a 2008-or-later bike are a package, not individual swaps into a 2007. The fuel tank grew to 6 gallons, so tanks and dash consoles are their own group from 2008 on. Axles went from 1 inch to 25 mm, so pre-2008 wheels need the right axle and spacers to go onto a 2008-or-later bike, and vice versa. Brembo brakes with optional ABS arrived the same year. This break is why so many of our parts are tagged 2008 to 2016.
2009: the frame
The first all-new Touring frame in decades, with a new swingarm and a wider rear tire. Frames, swingarms, rear fenders, rear wheels, exhaust hangers and anything that bolts to the rear section split here. A listing that says "2007 to 2012" for a frame is describing the donor bike's run, not the frame's, so on chassis parts we go by the donor year: 2008 and earlier is one frame, 2009 to 2013 is the other.
2014: Project Rushmore
New batwing outer and inner fairing with the vent, new instruments and infotainment, one-touch saddlebag and Tour-Pak latches, linked brakes on some models, a hydraulic clutch on some, liquid-cooled heads on the Ultra Limited and Tri Glide. Almost nothing above the frame rails on the front half of the bike carries over from 2013 to 2014. Below the frame rails, more does. We currently have 393 parts off 2014-to-2016 donors, so this shelf is thinner than the 2007-to-2013 one; if you have a Rushmore bike, tell us what you need and we will flag the next donor.
2017: Milwaukee-Eight
New engine family, new rear shocks, new exhaust. Frame and most bodywork continued from the Rushmore bikes. We have 7 Milwaukee-Eight 107 engines and 185 parts from 2017-and-later donors on the shelf today; it is the newest end of our inventory and it turns over fast.
Model to model in the same year
Within a single model year, the Road King, Street Glide, Electra Glide and Road Glide are the same motorcycle from the frame down. Engine, transmission, primary, swingarm, rear wheel, rear fender, saddlebags, floorboards and most of the hand and foot controls interchange across all four. Our Touring shelf is organized that way: 2,058 parts are tagged simply "Touring" because they are not model-specific, with the model-specific parts sorted into Electra Glide (1,221), Road King (459), Street Glide (434) and Road Glide (125).
What does not swap between models:
- The front end. Electra Glide and Street Glide carry the fork-mounted batwing; Road Glide's shark-nose fairing is frame-mounted with its own headlamps and inner fairing; Road King has a nacelle and a detachable windshield. Triple trees and headlamp buckets follow the fairing.
- Inner fairing electronics. Even between an Electra Glide and a Street Glide of the same year, the radio, speakers and gauge cluster can differ by trim. Match the part number.
- Windshields. Street Glide ships with a low shield; Electra Glide with a tall one. Same mounting, different part.
- Handlebars and risers. Model-specific on most years.
- Ultra and Limited extras. Tour-Pak, lowers and the wiring for them are add-ons to the Electra Glide chassis; a Road King has none of the mounting points as standard.
Batwing fairings specifically
Because it is the most-searched single part on our site: the outer batwing shell used from 1996 through 2013 is one family, the 2014-and-later Rushmore fairing is another, and the pre-1996 fairing is a third. Within the 1996-to-2013 family the outer shells swap widely; the inner fairings do not, because the gauge and radio cutouts changed. We have 36 batwing parts listed today, 19 outers and 18 inners, and 16 of them are from 1999-to-2006 donors, so that is the era we can help with fastest.
How to use our listings for fitment
- Start with the donor year in the title. That is the bike the part came off, and it is always right.
- Check the fitment range on the listing. It is the donor's production run; on parts that straddle a break (a "2007 to 2012" chassis part, for instance) trust the donor year over the range.
- Match the part number, including the suffix letter, against your parts diagram. Here is how to read one if you have not before.
- If it is still not clear, call +1 440-817-0268 with your VIN. There is a good chance a bike like yours is on the floor and we can look.
